Most copped or extracted as copper sulfides from large open pitmines in porphyry copper deposits that contain 0.4 to 1.0% copper.Examples include: Chuquicamata in Chile, Bingham Canyon Mine in Utahand El Chino Mine in New Mexico, US. The average abundance of copperfound within crustal rocks is approximately 68 ppm by mass, and 22 ppmby atoms. In 2005, Chile was the top mine producer of copper with atleast one-third world share followed by the USA, Indonesia and Peru, reports the British Geological Survey.

About 98% of all copper ore is used as the metal, taking advantageof distinctive physical properties – being malleable and ductile, agood conductor of both heat and electricity, and being resistant tocorrosion.The purity of copper ore is expressed as 4N for 99.99% pureor 7N for 99.99999% pure. The numeral gives the number of nines afterthe decimal point when expressed as a decimal (e.g. 4N means 0.9999, or99.99%). Copper ore is often too soft for its applications, so it isincorporated in numerous alloys. For example, brass is a copper-zincalloy, and bronze is a copper-tin alloy.
Copper can be machined, although it is usually necessary to use analloy for intricate parts, such as threaded components, to get goodmachinability characteristics. Good thermal conduction makes it usefulfor heatsinks and in heat exchangers.

Copper Ore Process
The first stage of copper ore process within a metallurgicaltreatment circuit is copper ore crushing, where the copper oreparticles are reduced in size such that copper particles can beefficiently separated from copper ore particles.
Copper is mined either at open pit copper ore mines or underground copper ore mines.
First the copper ore is blasted, loaded and transported to the primarycrushers(copper ore crusher). Then the ore is crushed and screened, with the fine sulfide ore (~-0.5 mm) going to froth flotation cells forrecovery of copper.
In the primary crusher, the ore is broken into smaller pieces of lessthan 25 centimetres in diameter. Crushed ore is then loaded on to aconveyor belt which takes it to the storage bin. In the storage bin, ball mills and other grinding machine grind the ore until it is a finepowder.
During the crushing process, we have improved the capacity and endcrushing products with our secondary crusher and tertiary crusher. Thetotal energy consumption is reduced considerably.
